The National Patient Summary is a vital part of the programme to implement the National IT Strategy for the Healthcare and Welfare Sector in Sweden. The National Patient Summary gives authorised care staff access to critical patient information, irrespective of the organisation they belong to, the time and the place. With an overall picture of the patient, the care provider has better decision data for diagnoses, treatment and follow-up. The assignment is carried out by Sjukvårdsrådgivningen SVR AB (the Swedish healthcare advisory organisation) on behalf of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions.
“The National Patient Summary contributes to the vision of right information in the right place at the right time to the right user, independent of organisation. As pioneers we are clearing the way for these kinds of national solutions as well as the IT structure, both hard and soft, that is required. The next time someone is going to do something similar, they will be able to lean on the security solutions and structure on which the National Patient Summary is based.”
